Which coolant would you all recommend for the truck listed in my sig? I've seen the Evans stuff, but it looks a bit pricy. I plan on doing a complete flush and installing a coolant filtration system.

Additionally, does anyone have a link on how to do a flush? Seems like I remember seeing one in the wiki, but didnt see it anymore.

I fully understand money issues from member to member Jourdan, but I would STRONGLY recommend the installation of a Coolant Filtration system.. BEFORE you flush yer coolant. As many here will attest to.. You Won't Believe the amount of Casting Sand, Grit, Grime and Corruption.. that's circulating thru your coolant system, Right Now. I (we) was Shocked by it.:eek: I went with the Motorcraft Gold stuff. No additives needed.

Yul go thru 2 or 3 filters to get it cleaned up.. THEN do the Flush & Change.. and if you want to.. you can switch to the Gold coolant. (if you havent done it already ?)

Thanks for the reply Joe.

Do you happen to know where there are step by step instructions on how to do it? I want to get as much out as I can. Is it necessary to drain it off the block?

I'm Puter challenged so no pic's.. but I used the filter set-up from the DIESELSITE. Maybe you could go to the site and download the instructions w/pics ?

Purdy strait forward install tho. There's a plugged port, just below the Thermo housing, you tap In there, go thru the filter, out to, and "T" into, the Degas/Recovery tank line.

Filter location is your call.. I mounted mine on the fan shroud side, on the intake snorkel. (per the instructions)

It's passive/by-pass in theory, <some> of the coolant is pumped thru the filter continuously.. over time, ALL the Crap gets caught by the filter.

NEAT set-up IMO.

This is exactly what I was looking for! Thanks for all your help!

Joe, is the motorcraft gold come pre-mixed 50/50 or did you have to dilute it yourself?

Not pre mixed. You do yer own.

the GOLD (G-05) is available from autozone (zerex brand),
ive not been able to find G05 anywhere other than @ the autozones
in my area.

There is no need to ADD SCT's to GOLD coolant (like you would w/ green)...
Gold (G05) coolant achieves its maximum level of protection at 70% concentration.

Zerex G-05 Coolant
