Under the bottom of coolant recovery tank is a hose that leads to a Y fitting that is also hooked to what appear to be a heater hose. I have a constant drip there that has leaked out abot 1.5 gallons over 3K miles.

I put a new clamp on the heater hose where it joins into the Y fitting which is where the leak appeared to be. It still leaks there. Can the Y fitting be cracked as there is not a clamp on the hose coming from the recovery at the Y fitting?

You might have to replace the complete hose assembly. Also make sure that the de-gas bottle is not leaking or cracked.

Thanks 4X4. It was the recovery tanks that was leaking cracked on a seam as best I can tell. Saw ne tank at online ford parts for around $45. Takes about 30 mins to change. Will check with local dealer Monday to see how much he wants for his in stock tank. ;tu

Anyone else had to replace their tank yet?

Coolant leak in Recovery tank

Went by the local stealership today to get a new coolant recovery tank (degas bottle). The counter man said $60.23, I told him that online it was only $44.??. He said he could not do that but could do $48.00. I bought the tank but it gripes me that they try to get every last penny they can from you unless you have done your homework to know if they are too high or not.

Took about 10 minutes to change her out. Hopefully now leak free. ;tu
