Coolant flush procedure

I wonder if the chemical flush put the stop-leak in suspension and that's what I'm seeing in my flush water.

Alternative way to flush coolant system.
Just wondering... Couldn't you undo the lower radiator house, hook up a garden hose to the upper hose (using a temporary adapter) and run the motor until the water comes out clean, then run the distilled water through, drain and add the proper amount of coolant and refill with distilled water?
Also, having alot of farms in the area the run filters to keep sand out of their pumps. Couldn't one place one of these canister filters in place on the lower hose and say drive around for a day or so, remove, drain and refill the system?

I would not trust a total-flow coolant filter. You could cook your motor if it fails, but a coolant filter in the system is a good thing and I have one. www.dieselsite.com has them, one of our sponsors.

Fleetrite ELC. Its good for 300,000 miles. But of course I would still check it once inawhile just because. And I agree with DAVE 100%. You DO NOT want a total filter, just that one that catches a little bit each time around. eventually you will get to all the coolant. But then Im anal and I check everything once in a while. Just to try and stay on top of things. Hell half the fun ( for me anyways) is working/ checking things on my truck.

On EDIT: What does distilled water cost? 75 cents a gallon? It damm sure wont hurt anything to use it, and looks to me like cheap peace of mind.

Use distilled water for the refill. It won't contaminate the coolant with minerals, like tap water.

Dieselsite coolant filter.
I'm actually going to be ordering this unit, hopefully before winter. I was just trying to find the best way to flush my system. I'm going to check with a local shop. They used to offer a reverse flush which really brought all the crap out, but I don't know if they can do it on the diesel engines.

Yes it can be done on diesel engines. The coolant filter will get rid of all of this junk before you need to reverse flush it out.

How many gallons do we need for a 50/50 mix in our 6.0's??? is it 4 gallons?
