Hi Folks,

Purchased a new F350 Super Duty, regular cab, and the thing shakes from the rear and vibrates driving down the road from 50-75 mph. It's been at the dealer for a week, he calls me up and ays it fixed, so I drive 50 miles to the dealer, pick it and the thing still shakes. The service manager told me 2 new tires and 1 rim was replaced. The rims are the chrome clad steel rims, with 275 70 18 Continental Conti Trac TR tires. I'm begining to think the tires are junk or the driveline is out of whack. Anyone else have a similar problem or ideas? The Dealership seems to be of no help and are dumbfounded.

Hi Dave,Welcome to SuperDutyDiesel:thumbs

What year is your truck,is it 4x4 or 4x2,how many miles on the odometer so far?
Just a few tidbits of info that might be of help:sweet

I've never been honestly happy with stock issue tires myself.

I've never had a problem with my Contis.

But most other people that have them say that they are definite POS.

But I don't have too much choice in the tire department. 18 inch tire size limits your choices a bit.

My 2005 Five Hundred came with Continentals, and they were a POS. We've got 30,000 on the car in 15 months, just recently replaced the tires with Michelins HydroEdges. Had the oil changed and the dealer said the tires had less than 3/32 tread left. I did the old "penny" test, and they were right. The Michelins ride and drive MUCH better, plus they have a 90,000 mile warranty. They don't have the noise that the Continentals had either. Of course, I'm running 215/60-17's. Plus, Discount Tire's website had ratings for Continental, Michelin, Yokohama, and Goodyear. Continental only got 1 1/2 stars out of 5, Michelin and Goodyear got 4 1/2, and Yokohama got 5 star rating from customers. One customer comment about Continental was that they were the worst tires they'd ever seen. Of course, my comments aren't exactly "apples to apples" because of mine being passenger tires and yours being truck tires, but I wanted to give you an example of my experience. I would imagine that lots of your problems could be in the tires.

Here's an issue I had once. After buying new tires and 3 repeat visits to the shop that installed them they still had the shakes. So I took the truck to another shop and had them balanced, problem solved! So either the balancing machine was out of whack or the employees didn't know what they were doing at shop # 1.

Is there another dealer you could stop by in your travels?
