Well if your in Colorado now, its gonna be due every year.If you search the CO DMV youll see what counties you have to have it done in.I think they only test for particulate parts per million while loaded on the Dyno.

Vehicles registered outside the region but driven into the
seven-county program area 90 or more days per year for
work or schoo
l must obtain an enhanced emissions test
inside the seven-county area.

New Residents
If you are bringing a vehicle into the Denver-Boulder emissions program
area from another state or from another part of Colorado, including from
a basic emissions program area, you are required to obtain an emissions
test (with one exception) and register your vehicle in your new county
within 15 days of establishing residency. In addition, you may need a VIN
verification (see VIN section below).

However, beginning September 1, 2005, when a newer vehicle is brought
into the program area and is less than three years old (from Manufacturer
Statement of Origin) the vehicle does not require an emissions inspection
at the time of registration.

The vehicle will require an emissions inspection when it reaches its fourth model year.

Exemptions
The following Colorado motor vehicles are exempt from emissions testing:

Newly-manufactured vehicles, for the first 4 model years, or until a
change of ownership (click here for requirements regarding vehicles
being brought into the program area from another state or from another
part of Colorado);

Pre -1959 collector-plated vehicles;
Pre-1942 horseless carriage-plated vehicles;
Vehicles with a two-stroke engine manufactured prior to 1980;
Motorcycles;
Farm-plated vehicles;
Electric powered vehicles;
Toyota Prius (a hybrid electric vehicle);
Honda Insight (a hybrid electric vehicle).

I am not in colorado now but the truck is regrestred there and to renew the tags it has to be tested. they test new trucks on the 2nd year then every year after. I am not a colorado resident so i have never had to have one tested. I just wanted to know what they test. Does the truck need a cat and so on.
