I removed my EGR valve today and it was very clean, was surprised about how clean the passage was also, it looks as if it was not removed before, but I cleaned the dust away and put it in again. It was a bit difficult to remove but after a few wiggles it came right off. Not much room there to realy get a good grip. I have 70,000 miles on my truck, must have been well driven hard befor I bought it .

turn it 1/4 turn, loop some wire thru the bolt holes & then use a pry bar
(screw driver, bar, broom stick) and leverage straight up...itll pop right out.

when you re-install it you should replace the o-rings & the silver/graphite
base gasket (retail for the gasket kit is about $7.50)

Ford part number 3C3Z-9P455-AB

Cleaned mine out today aswell, thought it was casuing another issue but it turns out not. There was so much carbon build up, I was amazed. Looks like this is going to be a normal routine.

Cheers
