I just cleaned the EGR valve last night and I don't know if it is my imagination or not, but my truck seems more responsive after cleaning it.

Does a clean EGR have anything to do with responsivness or I am just smokin'?????

i dont think youd notice any difference unless the valve was
having problems...cleaning the egr valve is a preventive measure...
just like changing you oil.

I used a clothes hanger. Took the 8mm bolts out, turned it, bent the clothes hanger wire through the holes, looped it up and used my floor jack handle to pry and "pop" it out. And when I say "pop"...I mean "POP"!!!! That thing is in there. If you just put steady pressure on it though, it will come out.

Mine was gummed up. It had 75k miles on it though. All better now though!!!

wire looped thru the 'ears' and then a pry bar (come use a broom handle)
to pull/pry the egr STRAIGHT UP & OUT.
