Well, i went to Ford parts dept. to go get my chrome OEM tow mirror covers that i ordered last week. they were 206.76 for both. one reason they were kinda pricey, was that the turn lense and the cover come together. you can't get just one, you have to get both. if you want just the lense, you will also get the cover and vise versa.
i put them on today and WOW, what a diff. it makes. of course i didn't have any instructions to go on for the first one, but it did go on ok. the second one was much easier.
i will now attempt to show you how it is done, just in case someone else needs to replace one.
1. The first step is to push the mirror (the glass part) to the outside to expose the inside behind the glass.
2. This step maybe hard to explain. There are two tabs in this slot. Use a long skinny flat head to slide between the two tabs and then twist the flat head to unlock the two tabs. Use the other flat head to push on the bottom tab (this is the covers tab), when you push the bottom tab, you should see the cover come loose and it should be pushed away from the mirror housing.
3. Its hard to see the lower tab of the cover, but i believe that all i did was to push a flat head in the lower tab and it also popped loose and went away from the mirror housing. There is also an inside tab, after you loosen the first two, just pull on the cover with alittle muscle and the inside tab will pop loose. Then unplug the turn signal harness from the back side of the lense.
4. The last thing left to do is put on the new CHROME cover. First plug the turn signal harness into the new cover. Then align the "tabs" into each of their slots and push the cover towards the mirror housing. You should hear them all "pop" into place. There are guide slots all around the outside edge of the cover, when you push the cover in, make sure that these guide slots stay on the inside of the mirror housing. The guide slots are there to ensure that the cover and the mirror have a smooth joint. Make sure that everything looks flush and your done.
