I just installed a VIPER 5900 SST (425 for the alarm and installation)
course if you figure in the busted door handle, lock tumbler &
new/replacement radio it cost me a bit MORE than the 425

2way paging...touch my truck and i get paged up to 1 MILE away
Electronic annoyer (aka siren)
remote start (w/ confirmation on the key-fob that the truck is running)
cool down timer (programable run time)
or INFINATE idle time w/ no key in the ignition (truck locked or unlocked)
Glass break sensor (2 stage)
Hood pin switch
Tail gate pin switch (open either and i get paged)

the cool down timer isnt tied to the EGT gauge...those (legit) turbo
cool down timers are about 200 bucks.

If you use a good synthetic oil like Royal Purple, and let the truck idle for a couple min, there is not need to worry or go though the headache and hassle of this. Just My Opinion

I've done similiar to bushpilot. I am having a remote starter installed and having it programmed to run 4 minutes after I turn it off. $300 for the whole shabang installed

Alarm recommendations.

I have an Crimestopper 2016DP with remote startup. When I get out, if I've been playing around, I can use the remote start, while the vehicle is still running then get out, arm the alarm and truck will keep running for 8 minutes.

If you don't want to go that route there are several products that you just plug into the diagnostic port that keep the engine running until the exhaust temperatures drop down below a certain temperature. Just search google for turbo timer and pick your favorite. I found one, I'll have to search for the link that even had a heads up display for when you were driving. :)

Turbo Saver.

There is another unit that is cheaper. About $200.00 that keeps the engine running until the exhaust temperature drops below the safe level. I have a built in turbo timer with my alarm, but I have to remember to use it when I get out and it is linked to time, not temperature.
