At its core, the Tundra light duty pickup's stock engine was replaced with a medium duty diesel powerplant plucked from a 35,000-pound commercial truck. The 8.0-liter inline six-cylinder high-torque engine, made by Toyota affiliate Hino, is mated with an Eaton five-speed manual transmission and a Hino back end. Toyota Motorsports Technical Group heavily modified the Tundra to accommodate the beefed-up driveline.

A host of custom exterior treatments point to the off-the-charts muscle under the hood. Prominent examples include forged aluminum alloy 22.5-inch wheels custom made by Alcoa, a diamond plate-lined bed, a charcoal gray metallic flat paint finish and a fifth-wheel hitch rated at 24,000 pounds.

I cant beleave the hitch rating 24,000 pounds.

Plus It's got a big but

That Yota is old news already. No 8' bed.. I can't use it, manual tranny not good for my disabilities, it's ugly, rear fenders design that will catch some GN trailers in hard turns and hard to find Hino engine parts.....

No thanks, I'll keep my Fords and hope they go CAT someday or mabey go Dodge in the future.

Only thing I like is that it's an inline six and not another high winding V-8

Here is my :2c I like the front end styling. The cab looks like a Dodge. I don't like the rear fenders or the rear end at all. Seen the interior in a magazine and its ugly too IMO.

But most of all is this, a 3/4 or 1 ton deisel Toyota? Thats just not right!:dunno

Nothing special there. Loock at the GVW on some of the big high end fifth wheel RVs and toyhaulers, the GVW on some of them is up there at 18k - 20k . My Putnam Firehawk II 5th wheel and gooseneck are both rated at 23,000 pounds.

That's a high dollar Reese Signature series 5th wheel in the Yota..... And in fact it's the wrong one for a short bed, no slider, will make things interesting in a tight turn if they can even hook it up as high as the truck is.
