under the 3/36 you should get a free rental <usually some pos car>
and i find MOST dealers dont wanna tell or give you that....must come
out of the local dealers pocket or something...

remind your dealer (and ford) that the clock begins NOW....youre under
12mo/12k miles in ownership and they better get some attn on this
one or they could be lookin square in the face of a lemon law/buy back.

i was gonna suggest you pull the egr valve plug and see if it ran better...

itll be interesting to hear the code numbers and what the dealer replaces
(i bet they replace the vgt valve AND the turbo....many do it w/out
proper diagnoses or need)

keep us in the look and dont settle for some BS from a service mgr....
buddy up to the tech and get the codes (we all learn from 'em) and
make sure they tell you/show you the bad parts and what was wrong
w/ 'em...

hmmm...now you guys have me thinking. I did not know that they were replacing so many turbos. I also have been taking it easy on the throttle because of fuel prices and somebody said you need to push it once in a while. Why is that needed? My turbo was giving plenty of boost but it did sound a little "grindy" when it slowed down with the hood open.
I am still waiting to hear from the dealer and will ask for the codes.

well i think even if there was problem relating to fuel, cant you get the gas station to pay for repairs, not sure?

been there done that, I would rather kiss hilary :D than go through that again, even with reciepts and mileage they dont like to budge.

and boatguy if your turbo sounds GRINDY, you got some issues
if its a noraml spool down thats one thing, but grindy is a no no
jump up and down, still under 12/1yr be firm but nice, at least smile some, give em a chance, but also insist on a rental free of charge.
have you changed the oil yet??
i know they recommend the first one at 6500 miles which is stretching it

well i speak mostly of historical "repairs"...

personally i believe alot of the remove & replace is because of poor
tech training or a lack of understanding of how the systems work, not
to mention poor diagnostic skills.

they look for a code & they replace that part...i dont get the feeling
they do much to look at upstream or downstream items that could
have caused the failure.

again this all depends on the tech & the shop, some dont need much
training...others will never "get it" even if they had training.

and i speak of historical issues, i think if nothing else their skills
are getting better if for nothing else TIME w/ the 6.0L (they had
simular issues w/ the 7.3 & you can bet your life the new 6.4 si-turbo
will have growing pains)

face it theres not much to go wrong w/ a turbocharger...most only
contain bearings (ours contain the Varible Vane & external actuator)...
id venture to say 95% of the issues are egr related not turbo or vgt...
and its unfortuate that the EGR issues will probably continue (but
thats something that can easily be replaced yourself we're outta
warrenty...assuming proper diagnoses)

i had an egr failure & had it diagnosed & tested (bad) thru my
autoenginuity software and by unplugging it...had i not been
under the 3/36 i would have repaired it and been done w/ it....instead
i took it a dealer who had the truck 3.5days

actually the oil change (per ford) is 7200mi <began that recommendation
w/ the 04my>...even if we wouldnt go that long between changes personally.

i change mine every 5k (and ive been doing blackstone reports on 'em),
i would change that 1st oil soon...i did mine at 2k and thought i was
taking a chance.

ford cant complain about your oil changes or blame failures on it
if youre adhereing to their maint. schedule.

Driveability troubles

:burnit I just had my 06 PSD in the shop for over two weeks. It was bucking under acceleration. It kind of felt like it was losing fuel. Ford Engineering was in direct discussions with the mechanic at the dealer. They started with the Fuel Injection control module, then the wiring harness, then the crank position sensor, then the cam position sensor, then dropped the pan and did some digging around in the bottom end. None of this fixed the problem. The last suggestion from Ford Engineering was to replace the PCM, and if that didn't work the dealer was to do an engine swap with a new truck they had on the lot.

The PCM swap worked. Thank God.

Allthough I had some initial disputes with Ford Canada, the dealer was excellent, and Ford Canada provided me with a rental truck for the duration of the repair.

Make sure you are very vocal with Corporate Ford if this thing drags out for you.

Cheers

so I just got a call from the dealer and the service writer says it has a bad #5 injector. He was unable to say why it is bad so I guess I will just have to wait and see. Hopefully the replacement of the injector will do the trick.
