Went to have work done on my truck and they said they KILLED the batteries and did not charge them up all the way. 2 days later my altenator went out. Put in a new altenator and now 5 days later the battery light is on and it looks like the altenator is not charging again. Can the low batteries cause the altenator to burn out.:dunno

yes,low batts can kill an alternator.how old are your batteries?1 dead one can also kill the alternator as the junk batt will bring the good batt down and the alternator is trying to charge both even though the junk 1 wont charge

You may want to check the fuseable link, sometimes it gets hot, but not to the point of breaking the link, causing a higher resistace with intermittant connection properties...
In other words "Just plain flaky"

Good luck!
