I think 7000 is a little to far, I took my 06-6.0 in at 4700 and wish that I had changed it at 3000 for the first time. I think the book says 5000 to 7000. I plan on doing it at about 4500 unless I go with Synthetic Oil. Just my 2 Cents, I know this will open a new can of worms.:roflmao :roflmao

The 03 manual says 5000 miles for severe service or 7500 for normal service. I assume the 06 manuals says the same thing for the same engine. I think anything over 5000 is too much, especially for your first oil change. I've heard some manufacturers want the oil changed for the first time at 500 miles, then resume the normal schedule. Your call though.

I change mine every 3000 miles, Motorcraft 15/40, with Motorcraft Filters. It does help when your good friend owns the dealership.:thumbs

No. Diesel oil is not regular oil. Some smart guys will chime in on the specifics, but diesel oil is different and labeled as such. I use Amsoil synthetic 5W30 year round and it's worked well so far--quieter operation, smoother starts, and slightly better MPG's although that last one is hard to tell with the latest flash.

I use 5W40 Rotella Syn in my truck and have been using it fir about two years now. You have to check the grade of oil to see it it is CH-4+ for our trucks.
