Did anybody else notice that the clutch pedal goes in WAY easier with the SB clutch? It almost feels like it doesn't want to come up off the floor. I ahve heard this is normal, what are your experiences?

There's an assist spring that's not needed with the SBC. When I took mine down the track the first time it did stay on the floor during shifts! The spring just pops out and I like the way it feels with it out. Have fun with your new clutch!:thumbs

I gotta say this looks like the best thread on sdd for clutch changing.

-Was there any special sized tools you needed? or was everything just regular sockets and wrenches?

-did you have to pull up any of the interior?

-Since I am doing mine on a lift with help and a tranny jack I beleive I got everything covered there.

I noticed the soft pedal feel after putting my LUK clutch in. Nobody told me it was normal. They let me go for about an hour fully checking everything before they went ahead and decided to tell me it was normal. This was after I gave them a full cussing for laughin and joking at me. Now for slipping I couldn't tell you cause I installed the fully cermettalic on both sides of the disc in my 94'. It was like driving a big rig. Bunny hopping till I got use to it. I was told about changing the assist spring out or just removing it. As for aligning the clutch I always put the alignment tool into the disc then put it up on the flywheel then I put the pressure plate assmebly on. That way I know the disc, input shaft, and pilot bearing will all line up. And yes I did this with just a floor jack. I left the fluid in it. But I have done enough of these that I could put them in my sleep.
jopes, as for specialized tools, there is two you need. A big hammer for all those who want to mess with you while your doing it and a good big cooler full of adult beverages cause you might get thirsty:D . Interior, just the boot around the shifter. You having a tranny jack and a lift will help out tremendously.

suprisingly enough, there were no special tools required...

-did you have to pull up any of the interior?
just unscrewed and removed the shifter boot is all. Make sure you cover stuff up good. Dirty transmission changing guy inside the truck means big mess and big cleanup..

Lucky bas#@$. You got it so easy, man... Just remember to be careful when installing the slave cylinder not to lose the shaft inside the bellhousing. It WILL fall out. Also, do a release arm and pivot block while you're in there, in case I didn't drive that home enough already... GOOD LUCK!!!

01's and newer do have the updated release arm, no need to replace 01 or newer.
It costs $35. I could care less what year my truck is, I would change it while I have that monster SOB transmission on the ground... my .02...
