Richard, I bet when you sprayed the brake cleaner in the clutch area you just made things a bit sticky is all. Run the piss out of it for awhile and the clutch will probably slip at idle again like it is supposed to.

my guess as well :gimme

I mess with chainsaw as sort of a hobbie and i work on Stihl equipment at work.Should have bought a Stihl but i'm biased :lmao ,
yep definatly check your clutch and springs, you could pull your clutch out and take some emery cloth and go over the clutch shoes and drum a little that will clean it up.
Does it idle smooth or up and down?
Good luck!!!

I just got done rebuilding an 066 w/28" bar that i aquirred. New piston and cylinder and several other things. Heres some pics: sorry there poor quality, camera phone

So I get to the site all ready to cut and notice a pin hole fuel leak in the fuel hose. Obviously it won't stay running. So much for running it with a sticking clutch. No problem. My buddy had planned on getting a new saw so we went to a Stihl/Husqvarna sales/service shop and he dropped $450 on a new Stihl 310 with a 20" bar. That saw is sweet. So I'll be dropping off my saw for service. Now my clutch sticks, have a fuel leak AND my oiler is spewing way to much oil. If I paid as much attention to my chain saw as my truck this never would have happened.
