I always liked a 5 by 5 Firestick on my pickup, but on the big truck
when I was running big power, I liked the Wilson Center Load.
On coax I only run the gold colored clear cut to 18 ft long and used a 3 ft
jumper when running power. Get your SWR's down to 1.5 or lower.
If you have your CB worked on make sure you know him or her and
they have been in one place for a long time and a lot of truckers use them.
Just my 2 or 3 cents. Your mileage may vary.

Where are you putting the antenna?

Right behind the cab might look good but its terrible for radiating pattern and swr's.

On top in the center of the cab is the best spot but its gonna hit every tree branch in the neighborhood.

Tbar, you are correct. The SWR is not that great behind the cab. With a little patience I was able to get the SWR down to 2. Good enough for me. Thanks

I have the 5' wilson whip with magnetic base sitting right smack dab in the middle of the cab. With a 5' whip and a lifted truck, you can damn well bet that the tip of my antenna is slightly bent from the bank drive thru, trees, bridges, etc. I will be installing a swivel bracket when I get my back window protector.

If you have any questions about CBs or antennas contact William at Rolling Radios CB Shop 804-640-1851. William knows just about everything about CBs and actually understands what customer service is. I've had him repair a few radios, peak and tune radios and he's the only one I will buy CB equipment from. His prices are very reasonable and his service is second to none. He's located in Virginia but I've had no problems dealing with him via email and phone.
