Those numbers fail to impress me for a 1/2 ton p/u.

what if those numbers start at idle, and go up to about 4500 rpms? or what if they bolt it to a constantly variable transmission? i bet they have something to give it that "edge".

Autoweek said:
AutoWeek is reporting that Ford will allegedly be putting a supercharged 4.4L diesel V8 engine in the F-150 for 2009. Expect it to have around 330 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque! GM & Dodge are also planning on putting diesel engines in 1/2 ton trucks, but Ford is expected to be the first to actually produce such a truck. The 4.4-liter engine is a larger version of the 3.6-liter turbocharged V-8 used in European market Land Rover Range Rovers.

I have heard 330 hp. :sweet

There most likely starting numbers, there not going to tell you anything until they start building the truck for the masses.

and thats the truth! i have heard so many rumors for our new product lines when they are in the design stages, and when the fianl product rolls out of the factory its nothing like anything you read in the magazines, or heard through the grapevine.

I have heard 330 hp.

i also heard 330, i guess we will all need to stay tuned...?

what will they call it? powerbore? power...port? or perhaps "the cats ass"?

170 HP and less than 300 ft lbs will fail to impress me at any RPM if that is the PEAK horse and PEAK tq that the engine is capable of that you intend to stick in a 1/2 ton p/u with the towing and load capabilities that we demand today. Now if it was going in say an Escort or a Focus we might be talking.;)
