Car Movie Question

I have seen Gone In Sixty Seconds (newer version) no telling how many times and I still can't figure something out.

When Memphis & Sway boost the pink colored T-Bird, he unscrews one of the front running lights below the bumper, removes the bulb, and then shorts it out with a screw driver.

My question is this, what did that do, or was it just a movie thing?

Did he do it to disable an alarm or what?

if the alarm controller supplied power to the lights to blink them, i suppose in theory if you short a light you could pop the fuse for the alarm.

i think it just looked cool for the movie though, because the light wasnt on when he shorted it.

Memphis popped the bulb before it was ever started Zook.

And then he put something on a solenoid and then hit the solenoid with a screwdriver and it started right up.

I guess I am thinking too much about it.

Don't quit know about popping the alarm with a screw driver that is questionable. But it looks like he jumped the solenoid to start the car. Touch the hot and ground together. I don't know just guessing. Not going to try it though don't like electricity
