Please don't think I'm an idiot. But out of all of the 7.3l Powerstroke engines I've ever seen, I've never seen one with this. Two large rubber hoses appear to be coolant style hoses, and it also has two metal fuel lines connecting to it. Unscrewed the lid and there's definitely a strong smell of fuel inside. I'm thinking maybe a fuel heater? Truck is from Nebraska so it has the block heater. Is this an addon from the factory?

Not factory. That's aftermarket.
Does appear to be a fuel heater.
Almost makes me wonder if someone ran WMO/WVO.

Not great with acronyms. Can you explain what WMO/WVO is? Waste Vegetable Oil?

Yep, it's a Fuel Heater. Seen many of them on Heavy Equipment used in cold (Artic) climates... and on WVO/WMO users.

I know the colder climates will tend to thicken the viscosity of the fuel. Being that this is a northern truck, it probably was added to help thin the diesel fuel before entering the injectors. There's definitely no other setup for WVO. I wish there was though! I love me the smell of some french fries. LOL
