I have a question for everyone. I have a 2007 F350 Dually with the 6.0. I would like to do some upgrades. In reading thru the posts it seems the order is as follows:

1. Bigger intake box / filter
2. Gauges
3. Exhaust
4. Chip / Programmer

I like what I have read about SCT. My question is can it be "un-chipped". In other words, if a problem develops with the truck, can the dealer detect the presence of a programmer? Or is there a way to hide / remove it? I don't want to install go gast stuff and be on the hook for $$$ repair bills.

I have a 65 Pontiac that is plenty fast and expensive enough already!

Sawboy you can take the Bigger intake box / filter off of your list because the 6.0 all ready has the best you can get. I have the Gages & a 4 in turbo back exhaust and we left the ketty at the vet's office.
Yes they can tell if it has been chipped.
I am real pleased with the power I have pulling my 16,000 LB trailer.

The SCT is not a "chip". It uploads the tune to the engine computer.

And yes, you can return it to stock. As a matter of fact, you can return it to stock a hell of a lot easier than "unchipping" a bullydog, or what have you. Plug the XCal into the OBDII port, select "return to stock", wait a few minutes, and you're done.

Digital, thanks for the info. I know that the SCT is a program, that is one of the reasons I prefer it. The custom aspect is nice. Nice to know it's not off the shelf, but rather designed for MY truck.

So then, if there is a failure with something later on, can the dealer detect the fact that the SCT program was ever in there?

All chips, programmers, tuners, etc are detectable on these trucks if the tech knows what he is doing.

If it comes down to having to dish out big $ for repair Ford does have dedicated "specialists" that they will send to the dealer to inspect for signs of modifications, computer and mechanical. They supposedly can even look at harness plugs and OBD plugs for tell tale signs of tampering. I find it hard to believe but, my service manager at a Ford truck sales only dealership tells me so and it is usually out of the dealers hands at that point.
