here is the one I like

$100 rebate makes it only $450. Not bad for a HDD camera.

(and if you read the "included items" they are throwing in a lens cap! Now that is worth the $!)

I got a sony for Christmas, the only thing I don't like is that it uses HI8 tapes, and I have already recorded over stuff-mad Wish it used the mini CD's, faster to find and play what you want, easier to get on the pc too.

i like the idea of recording straight to a dvd, thei can pop it in teh comuter or dvd player, with less issues ??
best buy has one here i may run over after work and eyeball it

or was it using the camcorder to look at his new underwear, because he had a flash of antonio him at the track next week

I like the Sony Hi8 cameras as I keep the raw footage. I download the audio and video via Firewire to my Mac and can edit, add titles, dissolves, fades, etc. and make it look like a Hollywood production. I can then send it back to the camera. write it to a DVD burner in the Mac, or make a QuickTime movie of the event and share it on the net.
