If folks out here would just CONSERVE, we'd be Okay. Set thermo's @ 78-80, turn off lights, pool pumps.. wash/dry after 8pm and so on.

We have a neighbor who keeps her house at 74 to 76 degrees.... then b**ches 'bout the $600.00+ power bill.

I'm totally against Government intervention but something has to be done. Rolling Blackouts, Brownouts or just plane Loss off Power are the results of folks not conserveing or cutting back, for the sake of self comfort.

But the whado I know....

Hate to see yer family going thru that FormBlue.... The abuse of Some affects us Masses.

I hear ya. Hence: Our FW, with the 3000W Honda with a 2800W Yamaha as a back-up. Food/Water Cache and the duplicates of everything it would take to be self sufficient for 5 days, for 2 people.

I bought a 7,500w genny for the Y2K non-event... now, I use it when sever weather knocks out power (3-4 times year) or the occasional ice storm in the winter... had it in use twice so far in '06, and figure the insurance company can just re-imburse me for it 'cause it's saved them at least the five Bens I paid for in on not loosing what's in the freezer....

maybe this type of power would be most useful, no gas, no electricity, no fuel needed to run. just hope the water keeps flowing. :roflmao :roflmao :D :) :thumbs :sweet
That wouldn't work in NE Texas. Lake Lavon (near Plano) is almost 13 feet below normal. Some of the bridges don't have water under then.

Guess we need to send some "Texas wind" toward CA. I heard today that Texas has become the top state for wind generated electricity. Last year, the wind generated electricity was enough to power 600,000 "average" sized homes. The new "environmentally friendly" Wal Mart in McKinney has a huge wind turbine at the front of the store that generates some of its power, along with a whole bunch of solar panels in the front of the building.

there is many windgenerators out here. but if I remember correctly they only put them up in certain places as they are not visually appealling to "certain" people.

We have never had a rolling blackout here we are not on the schedule. Keep the house at 72 night 75 day not much difference 78 would only make us miserable. I have a backup generator but it has not gotten to run in over a year.

any of yall ever heard of this CONNECTION HUB

It seems more viable for connection, i dont mind the manual transfer of
the HUB...the benefit i see is that i dont have to WIRE in a
transfer panel or SELECT <ahead of time> what circuits i want
to be on the generator !

w/ the connection hub i can pick and choose as needed which circuits
i want to use.

I have NOT been able to find where i can purchase such a hub though...
