First option is to add a ton of clear silicon caulking under each point of contact. This acts like a shock to the creaking and rattling noises.

Thats what I did and it did quiet it down but I would still never install one. Our X had it when we got it is the only reason it is there. I might add that "a ton of silicone" is not a figure of speech it does take a "ton" to kill the rattles and squeaks.

I had one on my old 02' lariat LE b/c it came stock, but i think a lot of them look cheesy. The one from Ford looked pretty good but i think it was b/c i knew Ford made it.
My advice? i wouldn't buy it for my truck...But thats just my .02
