I'm going to install factory amber lensed clearance lights on my F250, and was wondering if it would make any difference to put LED bulbs in the housings, or if it wouldn't be an improvement with the amber lenses? Anybody have a part number? I haven't been able to find it anywhere.

you could do clear lenses and amber bulb too.

the 194 wedge base bulbs are almost universal. i have seen LED replacement bulbs at all sorts of places. advantage would be long life and less power draw.

i have had good luck with LED bulbs from SUPER BRIGHT LEDS home
those were 'household' lighting bulbs. they have auto bulbs too.

I have all recon smoked led lights in my dually and they are a lot cleaner and much better looking. I know that you probably already have your clearance lights but if not recon (gorecon.com) sells complete led clearance light kits that are sealed and also come with the wiring. The kits are about $80. I put the smoked led lights on my dually and even with the smoked lenses they are very bright at night. They also have the just the bulbs (w/6 leds on each bulb) in either amber or white. I think they are around $10 each.

My 2K Dually (and 5r) bulbs are All LED, except the Headlights and Dash. Smoked, Cab, 3rd brake light(Recon) and Taillights (Euro)... very bright at night. I like'em.

The SuperBright site has some Very Good information on which Color bulb to use use behind which color lenses ... Lumen's and such too ! A good read before you buy ?

(I've also converted most all my 5r Interior 12v lighting to LED. Very Low battery drain when Dry Camping) (Much brighter than incandescent too)

Thanks for the info, yes, I've bought some stuff from superbrightleds before, been impressed. I don't want to go with smoked/clear lenses on this truck, I just don't think it would fit that well. I like it on other trucks, my last truck was cleared out, but on this red truck i think amber lenses would do fine.

So they are 194 wedges, that what I needed to know so I can get the bulbs and install them at the same time as the cab lights, which I have yet to order.

Recon does sell standard amber led clearance light kits too for around $80 or $90 if you were thinking of going that route.
