I've come across a few 2003 - 2004 Ford diesels but previously discounted them from the rap I was hearing from the street. But apparently I heard the wrong stuff. I'm considering a 2004 6.0 F350 with 143K on it. Anything in particular I should check out on that model year?

any truck thats REACHED a 143k in 4 model years cant be all THAT BAD...

I looked at it. It was spunky, but the body was trashed. The bed looked like it was used to haul bolders, after they dropped them 10 feet into it. I heard a strange wining sound that was always there also. I know turbos make a sound, but only when stomping on the pedal right?

I talked to a guy who's been selling only Fords for 23 years. He goes from VA to TX and buys them and transports them back up. He insists the 6.0s were junk, and like some other comments he agrees the 6.4's haven't been proven yet. He'll only sell 7.3s. He has several contacts that uses Fords and the ones with 6.0s always are broken down in the shop. Don't shoot the messenger. I'm just passing info.

I always buy at or below KBB trade value. I find it's the only way not to lose tons of cash when turning it later. The 6.0 was priced at $9,900, and it was obvious why. It was beat and made strange noises. But it was a spunky critter with no load in/on it, I must admit.
