busted parts- a little advice

Ok I broke 1 pushrod and 1 rocker arm, bent 6 pushrods. Replaced all with stock replacements. Still have a dub,dub,dub sound down in the engine. Will be doing a compression test tommorrow. Any ideas ? I know i can get 910 springs and chrome-alloy push rods. I know that that will help. up top.
1. if I have to pull the heads what upgrades are there?
2.if more is broken down below (i know I'm shootin in the dark) what can I do to help out build up the weak places?
I am not racing material- Just lookin to dyno and have some fun fromm time to time...Tater

Low side of the redline took two weeks after it to blow its top.Buy gauges then mod ur truk...TAter

Looking at the mods listed in your signature you should be fine going back together with stock top parts.

I'm not sure what your low end knock would be? I'd recommend a CCT along with your compression test tomorrow.

Wasnt trying to scold you, just wanted to be clear that when your engine failed you werent 100% certain of some of the conditions that it was trying to operate at.


I'm kind of curios if the dub dub dub sound you are describing isnt more of a chuff chuff coming back through the intake from perhaps a screwed up vavle..... high egt's can eat a valve. I'm just guessing here, you being right there can tell if it is a low end knock.

well if you broke and bent pushrods and broke a rocker arm im about 95% sure you bent a couple valves.sounds like you had that poor thing reved high enough to float the valves and they got smacked by the pistons.

how you managed that is beyond me.mine is built up fairly well and ive redlined that bad boy a few times and have yet to tweak a valve.ive melted a few pistons though :D .

thanks for the replies. I guess ultimately I was looking top and possible bottom side improvements while I got it opened up. Definately gonna upgrade the springs and pushrods to chrome-alloy. other than fixin the possible valve problems that will help out? Oh and i have gauges in hand...thanks Tater
