I really like the looks of a burlwood dash but have not seen one installed from the factory. Does anyone have any pictures of an oem installation? There is a link below to one from Diesel Performance Parts that they say matches the factory colors but I'm not sure about the design. I would appreciate any comments, suggestions and pictures before I spend $300 to dress up my cab a bit. I would like to get one as close to factory as possible.

Thanks!

I had one of those in my 01 and it looked good, but was a pain to put in.

On my 04 King Ranch, I went with a dash kit (specifically for the KR) from Veneerz. Actually, the kit is made by AAA Exotic Woods. One other sell sight for them is WOW Trims. I have had mine in for over 2 years and in addition to being easier to install, it has held up extremely well.

One thing they did not have there though was the overhead console or rear center console. I got them from Superior Dash. They look exactly the same. I know that Vaneerz, WOW Trim and AAA Exotic are the same company cause, I sent Vaneerz a pic of mine installed and my KR install pic is on all 3 websites.

I have some pics below in my sig line.

While the two kits (Diesel Performance Parts - is the distributer and I have no idea what company makes it) and AAA Exotic Wood are very different, I will tell you that the kit in your link above is plastic. The AAA Exotic Wood is covered with heavy polyurethane. It is more flexible and I like the AAA Exotic kit better. Just my humble opinion.

If you look at the link below, I have some pics of how I installed mine.

One thing for sure, it sure brightens up the interior in a good way - again, just my opinion.

The stock OEM door panels and the kit are dead on matches.

Less expensive too!!!

On my last truck I went with the 20 some odd parts - but this time I went with the less is more theory. I installed the kit by Husky Liner - and it matches perfectly. Not a lot of parts - what you see in the picture and then more to the left and on the door handles - that's it.

I installed mine about one hour after I got her home brand new - so they are stuck for ever! I also like the molded look rather the flat parts - this looks like it came OEM as it fits in and around the corners - no big lips/edges anywhere.

I like both of those... really dress up the cab nicely. I gotta' "study on this" awhile since I guess that it is in there forever once installed as rgdillon said. There doesn't seem to be any room to change your mind once the kit is installed, probably impossible to remove? Thanks for the replies and pics... that helps.

Take your time with this - really. Properly installed I would rather buy a new truck than try to remove the kits. Spend the money on a good high quality kit and really study as many up close pictures as possible. I actually spent more money on the current kit than I did on the first (01 truck) and got a 1/4 of the coverage - but I think it looks better. I really am a fan of the molded kits that will cover up the edges - looks factory.

Also when you do get the kit - make sure you have plenty of time to install it. Do not rush it. Test fit everything twice and make sure you have everything ready to do the job - i.e. tape, alcohol, razor etc. The kits will (should) come with cleaner and prep/activator. Have extra alcohol on hand. Applying a little extra alcohol to the parts when you are getting ready to install will buy you a few extra seconds to position the parts.

Anyway - good luck with it all.

Here is a link to what I used:

Puddle Pirate and rgdillon... do either of you know if the burlwood dash was available from the factory or strictly an after market option? I know some door pieces came from the factory but not sure about others.
Thanks again!
