the guy said he could not get it out of drive and I think a lot of cars now will not let the key out of ignition in drive. THAT is a scary feeling. I think its going to take quite a few more of these situations before car manufactures start giving the control back to humans.

X2 !

But the "Safety Watchdog" groups, and our Government, have a Big part in this stuff, too ? OVER REGULATION. We The People are being Put in Harms Way.. Because some Official, or Group, has enough Political Clout to attach some "SAFETY" related "Rider" on to an unrelated Bill, that in the end.. effects us all ?

I'm not sure FOMOCO maybe had anything to do with this ? :dunno

I am pretty sure all of this is related to the steering wheel lock (anti theft). They don't want the wheel to lock while driving. Another great way that our gov't keeps us from hurting our selves! :( :soap

You can move the shifter from Drive to neutral, and you can kill the engine with the key and the lever in drive. I have done it many times, pull into the drive, set the parking brake, kill the engine. Then put the truck in park to be able to move the key past the off position, into the wheel lock and then be able to remove the key. So I think he should have been able to goto neutral and kill the engine.... I would rather have the engine on the govenor and the engine in neutral and still have power steering and brakes, then the engine off and no assist.

These engines will make a lot of noise when against the governor, but they won't blow up. I am with snicklas on this one; run it against the governor.
