Okay so my truck won't crank, seemed to be an issue with the battery. I replace ONE of the batteries with a new optima. The trucks good and running for a day or two, the second day i notice that it struggles slightly as it starts. On the ride home my a/c stops blowing cold air and my whole dash shuts off completely, gauges, mileage, everything. The truck continues to run though. The next morning the truck doesn't crank of course, so i go to get a second optima. Three hundred dollars later... i'm thinking that nothing can stop me now. Truck is up and running again. Until I my battery and abs light come on and my dash goes dark again! NOW I'M THINKING THAT IT HAS TO BE NONE OTHER THAN THE ALTERNATOR! I purchase the alternator, install it and have someone jump me off. The truck fires off, the dash is lit but the battery light is on. So i'm thinking the battery light will surely go away as the truck continues to run; it doesn't, about a half mile down the road the truck starts sputtering and jerking almost like it was running out of gas(not the case though) and then it cuts off. I get another jump. Everything works battery light is gone. Then the abs light pops up! Dashboard goes dead again. Truck cuts off! BY THIS TIME I'M SUPER PISSED! Come to find out one of the terminal connections was a little loose, solution to the problem? We tighten it and i'm jumped again. When she everything is working again and the abs+battery light are gone. My headlights are dim but strengthen within minutes. Nothing goes wrong on a 30 min ride back home everything ran perfectly. About an hour after i get home i go to get something out of the truck and try to start it just to see. And guess what it's completely DEAD, AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!

parasitic current draw?

you loose connections may have blazed the voltage regulator or maybe a diode..

is the alternator case magnetized?

I took your advice and swapped out the alternator, thinking that it may have been fried. With the loose connections taken care of and the new alternator i'm still getting the same results. The person i purchased the truck from has a speaker running off the battery and maybe he has rigged it up; maybe a wire is grounding out somewhere?
