Hey everyone. I am new around here.

I am looking for bigger brake options. My previous 2008 xlt Gas truck had rear drums which were awesome with the front discs.

My new 2008 King Ranch Diesel has disc brakes all around and with the biig tires, it does not brake as well.

I know of this brake kit, but its a little expensive.

Yea but $3300 brakes? I'd be afraid I'd go thru the windshield first time I used them ! Thing should stop faster then a 18 ton loader! HAHAHAHAA

3300.00 ooooowww

gary, the brakes on my 450 stop wonderfully. yours should be the same. if u have many miles on the truck, flush the brake sys. out with freash fluid. now go to napa or any QUALITY parts store and get the best ceramix pad with the "better" quality rotor. make sure the pistons collaps smoothly and finish the job. way cheaper than 3300 bucks and youll be sat. with the outcome

It feels like the rear calipers stick a little. Also, with my big tires, the truck does not stop well.

Newe Brake Pads

Hey guys,I just changed the pads on my 08 and instead of paying $150 bucks they wanted for pads at the dealer,I went to autozone and got there best semi-met. pad for $46 bucks for the front and 47 for the back. The truck has never stopped so good.I had 50 thou on the old ones and i had to stand on the peddle to stop it. I'll have to see how long these last. I pull a 37 ft toyhauler fifth wheel.

Did you have big tires on your gasser as well? The extra mass and rolling resistance of big tires can be a little decieving, and can change the starting and stopping characteristics of big vehicles, not to mention the extra weight of the powerstroke under the hood. These trucks have 4 wheel discs for a reason, no drum brake setup that i know of will outbrake a well maintained disc brake system. Could just be a different "Feel" with the different assist system. Ie vacumn versus hydro boost

Big Tires

Hi Bigrigr, I have the opt.20" ford alum rims and 275x20 tires. I kept the original rotors as they didn't appear to have a scuff mark on them. Stopping this now is amazing.(Its Stops fast)
