With 160,000 miles on, most of that, Towing.. on the OEM pad's & rotors.. I'm beginning to feel some Pulsing.

With a 3~4 month Rv trip in the works.. I'm thinking BRAKES.

Leaning toward slotted, Frozen Rotors & Pads.. on all 4 corners. I got a quote of about $250 a corner... TMD.

Any Comments ??

The mileage is about right...

I replaced mine about that time, maybe a little earlier on the fronts. Went Powerslot cryo rotors and Hawk pads on the front, Powerslot cryos and Raybestos HD pads on the rear (no one in town had Hawks in stock at the time) and totally happy. Have about 80K on them with almost no wear, it is a ranch truck so it gets used some hauling/towing all the time.
Cost was about the same as yours.
Some have said why not replace with OEM; kinda hard to sneeze at 160K out of a set of brakes. I think OEM was about the same cost, maybe a little more....
The labor was easy since was swapping out part for part, no machine work involved.

I take that back, City Tire in Modesto did the rears while it was getting aligned once. So that labor was realllly easy! :D Great shop...:sweet

Good luck

Well, decided to go with one of our Site Sponsors.. Frozen Rotors.

SUPER customer service. Very thorough in getting it right.. Year, Make & Model, build date.. what do I do with it, GCVW, and so on.

4 new Cryro treated, slotted rotors, Hawk LTS pads. Also decided (later) to go with 4 New (not remans) calipers too.

Everything ships next Monday.. I'll be busy, week after next. ;);tu

;tu Ya.. I'm looking forward to it all.

Might be "overkill" to go that far with a Brakes R&R.. but I'm @ 18.8K GCVW, on a 20K(+) 350 soo..Improved.. braking is the way to go.. if it's "Out there", with all new pieces & parts .

(I'm looking into a Disk Brake conversion for the 5r too :sly)

Didnt know you could convert trailer brakes to disk? Sounds pricey. I'd like to do that on my 21ft enclosed trailer.

Did u get OEM calipers or aftermarket (SSBC etc)?

Not OEM. They're Jobbed through Uptime. All new, upgraded and Anodized. Frozen Rotors (Bill) sez it's the only company they can get calipers from, that are.. [completely], All New.

Plan on giving some attention to the caliper slider pins. Make sure they move freely, they are well lubed and the rubber boot is in anything other than "like new" condition.

Siezed slider pins = bigtime problems and $$$$$

Not that I'd know anything about that.:innocent:innocent
