the "dolphin effect"....had many fun rides into LA, although the wife didnt think so :)

Robert, did that help on the concrete at all?

yes it did the stretch of I 30 near roackwall is all concrete and it reduced the bouncy bouncy jar effect a considerable amount.

its a huge hunk of weighted metal wrapped in a huge piece of rubber that is free to oscilate in three axis .
did i say its HEAVY

Update for anyone who cares....

I had the fix done. Cost was 200 for parts and 80 for labor. (i'm at 50K no warranty) They drill holes in the side of the hitch and mount some pretty big chunks of steel & rubber on the sides. The best I could descibe it would be a counterweight, The truck gets bouncing in one direction and the weights (mounted on a rubber pivot) dampen the boucing.

After having it for a week I've noticed the boucing is still there but slower and less intense. So it does something for the problem. Over the long run (40-50K a year is what I drive) I think it will be worth the $. Would have been nice to find out about this while I was under warranty.

I have never had this problem does it only happen on concrete roads with the expansion joints? Ive driven on plenty of them the truck gets a little bounce to it but no worse than any thing else.

Yep, only on concrete. The issue is - on freshly resurfaced concrete (if done correctly, smooth as glass) it's the worst. I wouldn't call it dolphin like someone mentioned above. It's vertical oscillation, as fast as 3-6 hops per second. I can watch other 350's around me bouncing if I'm driving the wife's truck.
