BOOST question

I have a stock F350 and my boost gauge at idle stays at zero, is that normal? Running at 2000 rpm (70 mph) the boost gauge reads 5-6 psi, is that normal? The highest reading I have seen is about 18-20 psi when I go to WOT, is that normal?
If the above readings are not normal, where should I look to correct the problem.

Yes, that is totally normal. Remember always that it takes FUEL to make boost. No fuel, no boost. Lotsa fuel, lotsa boost. So, the harder you push with your right foot, the more boost you'll get.

That's about right. The amount of fuel it takes to maintain 70 is about the same it takes to make and maintain 5psi of intake pressure.

On a stock truck, it is normal. Again, all the fuel that a stock truck can make adds up to about 17 to 20 psi. Add a chip, it adds more fuel, and depending on the chip, you can make 30 psi or more.

before I did anything to my stock 01, I could not get any more than 15 psi. now I have inched up to 20-21. would this mean I could have a intake leak?
