Boost Gauge Installation

Sorry about the basic question, no luck searching the forum. I want to install a boost gauge in my 2000 F350 4wd SDD. At what location on the engine should I connect the gauge? Is there a readily available port already in existence. My concern is basically one of troubleshooting, this is my first diesel and perhaps I'm expecting too much from it but it just doesn't seem to have the oomph I would expect from an engine of this type. x2! just cut the line, install the hose clamps, put the T fitting in, tighten up and you are ready to roll!
