well my truck started blowing blue smoke when i start it now, i know high millage dieseld will do that, but i only have 60,000 on my truck, is there anyway to get my 100,000 engine warrenty to cover it?

mine only smokes on startup when its in the 30 and below temps. i would under stand white smoke but blue smoke cant be good. and then there is the its a big black truck therory. Post findings please.

they're gonna want to do a consumption test... and I bet your truck won't meet criteria...
dude... it's a diesel... it's SUPPOSED to smoke...
what is the criteria?
on a gas engine, it's 1qt / 1000 miles
here's the deal. Diesel fuel is oil. Oil makes blue smoke. So it's probably a normal condition, given the nations weather.
Or, it could be a small amount running down the valve guides. Either way, I'd take 95_stoker's advice. -popcorn
& not worry about it.

thats not what he was hinting at, but thanks for the info, but its more than normal amounts of blue smoke, thanks tho

I have 68K miles on mine and when it gets down below 40, it will puff a little blue smoke when I first start it.

ya its like 50 out and i jus started it, and it blew it for a rew seconds after i walked all the way behind it, and watched it blow out both sides for a few seconds, so im not sure if its out side temp or what it might be tho, i hope so
