i have an 04 F-350 Dually with the 6.0. yesterday i was towing my trailer same as always and it kept blowing the intercooler pipe off the turbo..

right before it blew the pipe off, it would make a noise that sounded kind of like someone rustling a walmart bag.

anyone have any idea what could be causing this issue?

Thanks in advanced!!

First off, Welcome to SDD!!
You could either have a bad turbo, where the vanes are sticking causing it to overboost. Or you may just have oil on the blue silicone boots causing them to slip off under boost. My first and easiest suggestion would be to go to your dealer if still under warranty, and tell them what happened. If you are out of warranty, take apart the intercooler boots, and clean the mating surfaces VERY good with degreaser or maybe acetone, then re-assemble and see if that fixes it. Let us know what happens. The last time my truck blew the boot off the turbo, I had to have my turbo replaced.

Once clean, some have used some tacky spray to help hold the boots alittle better.

Seems like I remember someone using hairspray.

yep
clean all the hoses and tubes real good with alcohol, make sure they are cool first
than apply some CHEAP hairspray tot eh joint areas and re-attach the hoses and then torque the clamp as required, wait ten minutes then drive as normal
i have a roadside EMERgency kit with alcohola nd hairspray just for theis occurence and have used it a few times
good luck

update!!

i replaced the blue coupler, because the stock one looked like it had been chewed up by a meat grinder on one end. then cleaned all the connections with degreaser, then i went on a 300 mile trip with the trailer on today with absolutely no issues

oh by the way that little coupler is MEGA expensive LOL $85 at the stealership

thanks guys!!

Yup, that is why I opted to pay a little more to an aftermarket vendor and get all four hoses and all the clamps. If you divide it equally, it came out to about $45 per boot w/clamps. :2c
