i have smoked gbic's (gigabit network interface), hard drive controllers, network cards, fan motors. if you can catch them you can contain the damage.

best one ever was "dude the hippi card card is smoking" a real high performance peripheral interface card.

it is not brand or model specific. think about the sheer volume of components out there in devices. electronic devices generate heat!
