Be sure you get a timer that is rated for 1.5KW. And you will need a bit more than 30 minutes to get the coolant warm enough for the heater to work. Like an hour or two.

Home Depot & Lowes have a good selection of heavier duty Timers and Extension cords.

A cord thats Just long enough to reach from the Timer to your truck, dedicated for that purpose ain't a bad idea either ??

And FWIW ? I cut-in a 20 amp light switch next to the timer.. on my way in or out, I flip the switch on or off: No sparky when I plug in, or unplug the Block Heater :dunno

Yep, Sparky's. Don't know 'bout Yall, but I don't like Sparly's when I plug/unplug things in Cold, Wet weather.

Good Pic red. Hard to capture a Sparky.

it's not a spark............but one of those 3-way plugs that lite up so you know you have power running to the item plugged in (or to ensure it is plugged in at nite):sweet
