Howdy all. Have any of you replaced the block heater? Mine quit on me in the middle of -20 weather here in wyoming. I checked the cable and found it is the heater itself. I have done it on gas engines where it only involved draining the antifreeze to reduce leaking on me, but with this one going into the block just above the oil filter, I just want to verify it is in the coolant passage not the oil. I would hate to drain the antifreeze then pull it out and get drenched with oil. Thanks

Although it's near the oil filter, it warms the coolant only.

Just pull it out, you will loose about 3/4 of a gallon, be sure to burp the cooling system after, running with cap off to purge air.
