Hello,
Has anyone had to replace the wiring going to their block heater recently?
I've got a 2005 F-250 4x4 SuperCrew, 6.0 diesel. I didn't think the block heater was working. Took my Volt Ohm meter out and put it across the flat prongs of the plug, and bingo...nothing. I ended up taking it to my local Ford dealer to have them check it out, only because they told me the block heater was covered by the 5Yr., 100K warranty. Well, it turns out the wiring harness is not covered under that warranty!, and that is what they say is wrong, and for just under $175, they will fix it.
So my wife will have a $%^& attack when I tell her. I guess I'm going to have to get my hands dirty again and fix it myself, that is as long as I can find information on doing it.
Thanks for any information,
dano

Thanks, thats what I wanted to hear. I have yet to crawl under my truck for anything yet. But if the cost for simple repairs like that are going to be that high, looks like I'm going to be doing it myself,

There is a seller on ebay selling the cords for about 20. It is not a ver hard job. The hardest part for me was getting on my back and scooting under the truck.

dont know 'bout the 7.3L but on the 6.0L the heater element is
in a water jacket just above the starter on the passenger side....
i seem to recall that on the 7.3L its on the driver side...should be
easy to find if you just trace the cord.

you can just see the edge of the heater element (attached to the
orange cord) in the photos of this --> FDDTS - 6.0L Block Heater

regarding the marinco outlet...

best price i found is 14 bucks via "the net"

GOOGLE SEARCH RESULTS: marinco 150bbi

most boat/marine stores should have it (as i recall i picked mine up for about
19 or 22 bucks @ a west marine / boat u.s. brick and mortar store)

West Marine: MARINCO 15A OUTLET

West Marine: West Marine Search RESULTS FOR MARINCO ALL PRODUCTS

West Marine: STORE LOCATOR / KATY, TX
