Black Smoke Power Loss
My truck started blowing black smoke the other day and would barely pull itself down the road. I have no codes showing on the SGII. I did not have the SGII displaying the BST at the time but thought it may be the turbo sticking or something similar.
It happened as I was headed back to my home in Mississippi from the Smoky Mountains (HaHa). When I had driven about 50 miles and was entering onto I-75 on ramp, it started. As I started to accelerate at the intrstate lanes, it just started blowing blacksmoke and had way reduced power. I pulled to the shoulder, killed the engine then started it back up. Ran fine all the way home for 425 miles. My BST on the SGII was showing fine pressure but did drop as low as 0.4 under a deceleration at one point. I as pulling a very small trailer with my Harley on it so was only about 1100 pounds.
My SGIIis also showing that my FWT is about 190 to 198 degees F and the EOT runs about 18 - 20 degrees F above that at 70 MPH. I changed the oil cooler and EGR about 22K miles ago. There is 132K on the clock now.
Anyone got any ideas on where to look?
