Last year we had a few Bald Eagles flying around scooping up critters,
but this past month or so we got a new friend
a little hawk
the one pic if you zoom in , you see just how robust this guys body is, he is one fat bird with some wicked talons
i know you guys up in the great north have big birds, but this guy is sort of on his own

A year or two ago, I was following the highway along the Lake Superior shoreline while driving into Marquette. It was a very windy day with waves on Gitchi Gumee in excess of 6'.

While glancing out over the lake, I saw coming towards me just above the waves was a huge Bald Eagle. In its talons, was a large fish of at least several pounds. It was an impressive sight indeed!!!!

Had almost the same thing happen to me, I was living in Iowa and was on the Mississippi river in my boat when a large Bald Eagle flew right across the bow of my boat with a big fish in its talons. It had to be no more than 15 feet from where where I was standing, it was a small boat (19 foot runabout) I was cruising about 35-40 MPH and the eagle caught me by surprise. Glad i didn't hit it. I wish I could have snapped a shot like powerboatr did though.

i can beat that
a few weeks back a VULTURE swoped down off a power pole as i was cruisng down the raod at 60 mph, all of the sudden the sun blacked out and this guy winged us on the "A" pillar , then did a cool roll backwards like a jet fighter. i about shiiiiit my pants, i thought for sure he was coming in the window. have no idea what he was going after, but i think the edge was just to big for him.


this new guy is hunting closer to our fish shack so hopefully i can get some "action" shots of him plucking a field mouse or two

i have a feeling this little guy better watch his back
