I just got my Bilstein shocks and getting ready to install. It looks like the fronts install with the boot down. Is this right or did I get the wrong shocks. I always thought the boot was up.

the front AND REARS install w/ the boot DOWN !

the boots are there to keep dirt/sand/water off
the shock rod...w/ the boots "down" it allows water
to drain OUT (see small holes in the shock boot).

you want the dirt/water away from the shock rod...

dirt traveling on the shock rod will wear the internal
seals of the shock & render it worthless in short order.

help me w/ th logic of the rear boots mounted UP ?

Bilsteins mount w/ the boots DOWN...FRONT AND REAR

Bilsteins mount with the body up, boot down. It prevents dirt from
gathering around the seal on the shock.....if it were boot up the body
of the shock acts like a shelf to collect dirt, mud, etc... around the seal.

Bilstein's mount so you can read the sticker on them, regardless of location, year, or part number. All 4 of my 5100's on my F350 have the boots facing up, while my Ranger with Bilstein HD's, have the boots down.
