I have a pretty major oil leak....

I took a 600 mile trip and lost about 2 gallons or so of oil over the entire trip (I checked it pretty regular, didn't starve it or anything)...

The leak is dripping down the back of the engine coming out in the bellhousing and down the back of the oil pan. I can't visually see where it's coming from..but I guess it's probably the HPOP o-rings, maybe a seal in there? It only leaks when the engine is running, and it doesn't appear to be leaking when it's just idling. I looked at some of the lines that I think the from the HPOP, but they look pretty clean...

I saw a write up on replacing these orings, but does anyone have pictures? Do I need to take the fuel filter bowl out (or does it make it easier would be a better question)?

Thanks!

Be sure to check the oil galley plugs before you dig into the HPOP. The plugs have been know to spring a leak sometimes.

They are not under the valve covers per say but more below them. They are in the valley just below the bottom of the valve covers. Make sense?

Towards the center of the engine, on top, but yes, below the valve cover. Four on each side, hose going into one of 'em?

Mine don't look like that...they have a hex head like a regular bolt on them. Looks like it's close to 1/2. I haven't taken on out to see if the base looks the same, I'll try that this evening, too. Or am I seeing the wrong thing?

I wiped the top of the valve cover and around the galley plugs before driving home from work. When i got home, I had lost a little and it appears to me that the oil is coming from the high pressure hose going into the passenger side of the engine. There was a little pool in the vicinity, looks pretty promising. I wouldn't have found it if i hadn't wiped the area clean first. Sure made a difference.

So now my question is -- do I go ahead & replace all of the lines & orings while I'm doing it? Anyone have the specs on that hose, or am I better off to go to the dealer?

Thanks Crumm for your help!
