I just recenlty renewed my extended service plan with Ford. The young lady in Michigan was EXTREMELY helpful and very pleasent to speak with. :D But unbeknownst to myself and her, Ford decided to change the items that they cover under there exteneded service plans. I renewed my plan in December of 11' and this last week I had to take my wifes F-250 to the dealer for a new FICM and EGR cooler. No problem right!? Done it twice before. Got a call from the service writer saying that my warranty plan will not cover what I need done!!!:bob WTF Same package as before! Well on Jan. 03 of this year Ford decided to change their plan. EGR Coolers and FICMs are no longer covered under the "ExtraCare" pkg. You have the have the "Premium" pkg. So I spent 2 hours on the phone with Ford and they allowed me to upgrade to the premium pkg so I could get the work done.
So if you have and "ExtraCare" pkg, see if you can upgrade or you will be in for a HUGE suprise when you take your truck in.:goodluck

I see ESP claims almost everyday. I think the plans are a good idea if you can afford the initial cost of an extened warrany plan some costing several thousand dollars. I would recommend Fords esp plan above all others. Make no mistake about it the aftermarket warranty companies have done there homework. Weather you own a Escort or a F550 diesel and want extended coverage these companies know what is known to fail and what is not on every vehicle they cover. ESP claims that run into thousand of dollars are subject to inspection, yes an inspector is sent to the shop armed with a digital camera and a notebook of forms to fill out. If for instance an oil cooler fails on a 6.0 and the customers has deleted the egr cooler.DENIED. Threw a rod?. can't show supporting maint. records? DENIED. 6.4 egr cooler failed, took out the engine,?
coolant condition test are performed, not in spec?. DENIED. So be mindful of deleting parts and always keep maint, records if you have a extended service plan.
