just pulled my axles and im ready to put them back in and was told there was a special tool to put the seal on the shaft and that it need to be set at a certain depth. whats the best way to go about it?

the front axle, both sides and its a dana 60

Their is a proper tool to install the new seals onto the axle and then stays on the axle snub to help install the seal into the spindle. I bought one from the local Snap-on retailer when I did mine for $75. I'm sure that you must be able to rent them from a local parts store though.
