Ford says the most you should go on an oil change is 10000 miles. I see now why Ford won't fix your truck.

I have about 94,000 miles on my 08 6.4. I use Shell Rotella 15-40 (non-synthetic). Have not used anything else and am very happy with it.

You can extend your oil change intervals if you have some sort of aftermarket oil filter and you take oil samples regularly, but you can't just extend your intervals without external filtering. And most recommend still changing the filters at 3-5000 miles, but not draining the oil till the sample says so. But if you go strictly on the sample alone and have gone 19,000 miles on the oil, your asking for a major teardown. I use mobil delvac in both my peterbilt and my sd, I like it alot because it is one of the only oils that does'nt get black immediately after you change it, I can service the pete, and drive 1000-1500 miles before i can't see the dipstick through the oil, and thats working hard pulling heavy loads every day, and idling alot. jmo

I have 32k on my 08 now and for the past two oil changes I have used Shell Rotella T 5W-40 full synthetic. The truck likes it... Anyone else using synthetic?

amsoil

I have had 9 f350 from the 7.3 turbo to the 6.4 diesel I used to run shell rotella 15/40 for years no complaints but I went to the amsoil 5/40 and people they tore down my 6.0 a year ago and the heads on my truck was not covered in old rotella mess because there was another 6,0 with the same problem next to it that ran shell and my heads where a lot cleaner then his but the downside is amsoil is expensive a 30 gallon barrel is 800 bucks but i dont change my oil till 15000 miles on my 6.4 I change the filter every 5000 miles. I love amsoil its good stuff try it!

It is not a good idea to post your email address on any forum. Too many bots out there stealing addresses for spam.
