My seat belt chime won't shut up. It does not recognize when the seatbelt is fastened. I unplugged the connector under the seat, it's still chiming. I shorted the pins in the connector together, it chimes louder.

Is this a computer problem or do I need to try something else?
This chiming is going to drive me nuts.:hail

On another note, thanks to all you guys who have always been a great resource to me while I continue to learn the idiosyncrises of the 6.0 powerplant.

hummm could be a bad switch IN the seat belt...but i would STRONGLY
advise against disconnecting any seatbelt...

ford (and most others) use PRETENSIONERS <explosive charge> that
RAPIDLY tighten the seat belt in the event of a crash <just before the airbag fires>

Additionally if there is a problem w/ the Seat Belts, Airbag or Impact
sensors you WILL get a OBDII/CAN code.

your typical OBDII scanner will NOT pick up restraint system codes !
Autoenginuity will scan & discover these codes.

I ran autoenginuity this afternoon and thankfully there are no faults. Hopefully this indicates that there are no computer issues. So I've got the connector under the seat unplugged and it still chimes. I shorted the pins together in an effort to duplicate a fastened seatbelt to no avail.

Can't you just take it to the dealer? I took mine to the dealer and they just went into the computer and shut off the chime period. The light in the instrument cluster still comes on but not the chime. I think it cost me about $25.00.

Fandini -

Apparently you have more FREE time than the rest of us....why pay
someone for something you can do yourself ??? much less scheduling
time for an appointment or RISKING them messing up something ELSE.

25 bucks still buys a good night o beer ! or burgers for my kids @
mickey d's...
