I was just looking at getting the ats waste gated housing as an option for quicker spool up and as a way to control high boost.
Does any one have any opinions or experience with the ats housing?
I have trouble keeping my foot out of the accelerator enough to keep it under 30psi :burnit and I'd like to be able to limit the smoke with the quicker spool up. I'm Lookin at the h2e as well as the garret bb but thats a whole nother can of worms.$$$$$

i can't say anything about the ats,but i can tell you i'm very happy with the
h2e. you will fine if you don't have a SD setting around for parts a BB turbo will end costing about the same as a h2e kit.+ or- depending on were you fine the parts needed.

that's what I heard from. My main concern right now is not toasting my stock turbo like your wife did and trying to get quicker spool up for less smoke during normal driving. Maybe once I get an IC in and do a couple other things I'll be able to get enough in the piggy bank for a bigger hair dryer.

Alan i think a 6oh cooler would really help lower boost psi and of course help egt's too. Max boost with stage 2's, stock turbo and 6oh ic with tony's programs was 35 psi. If your after better spool up the h2e isnt gonna be any better, it can be a little laggy at times.

BJS I talked to bean today. The ats housing is a 1.0.
I think I'm gonna try the ats housing for now(it looks like it will fit my current needs), add my intercooler when I can get pipes and a 6.0 and later I'll go with something bigger like the h2e or garrett. Sorry not trying to hijack the thread.:sorry

Educate me here Luke, how is an intercooler going to lower boost that the TURBO sees? I understand it lowering the boost on the engine due to the pressure drop across the IC but the turbo is going to be pushing against the same (if not more) forces right? Or am I just not understanding?

don't worry about hijacking the thread it is about turbo's.its about what she was running to smoke it and it has turn into how to help it from happening which is the way it sould be heading.all oppstions to help and question are welcome.

the h2e is what she will get to replace my old stocker.i was just hoping it would be a few mounths outs.

An ic will drop the overall boost at least 5psi if not more due to cooling the air and making it denser. When i was running 2's with 6oh ic i saw a max of 35psi, many others with either 7.3 ic or no ic at all were seeing 40+ psi. Also a good ic wont have much psi drop across it if it flows well.

Luke taking that thought a little further.....am I wrong in thinking lower boost numbers with the cac sytem (disregard boost loss due to pushing the air the longer distance and thru the cooler) is a good thing due to the fact that with cooler/denser air going into the intake, it is not super heated, has more oxygen to burn and has almost or the same volume sinse it is denser. Lower boost numbers with the same or better performance is a good thing also due to less stress on the turbo itself......
