Buy a good, quality battery. Sears or DEKA are two of the batteries I buy and they seem to last for five years at least. You get what you pay for...

I have the third set of Motorcraft Batteries in my 14 year old, 140,000 mile F250.
The originals lasted 6 years, the first set of replacements lasted 7 years.
I wouldn't use any other battery in my 2004 6.0L
